As part of my algo collection, I also scan derivatives transactions in potential and known takeover targets (i.e. filter), in order to see near-real time speculative market activity (unusual or important activity). The two graphs below show the market activity on the pharmaceutical company Vifor Pharma AG for the trade date 2020-11-30.
On 2020-11-20, I first noticed unusual activity in Vifor Pharma stock, it is now on my radar, mainly as an experiment for fine tuning the algos to pick up and flag such activity at the first possible opportunity.
It also is very useful and fast way to see which warrants are active and liquid and improve my trading cockpit. Aim is to have better information than a trading desk of one bank, as many sources are pooled and analysed in a targeted and fast manner. Additional filters can be used for strike price, issuer, etc. (Note that I was a licenced derivatives and equities trader on the Swiss Exchange SWX and Eurex and feel passionately about having as much information as quickly as possible, without noise and manipulation.)
